Integrated Center for Math and Science :: $7,500,000
The technologically sophisticated Integrated Center for Math and Science is a 64,525-square-foot building at the forefront of a movement to reverse the United States’ declining position among world leaders in science and technology and to grow the number of qualified health care professionals to treat our aging population. The center will not only enhance Nazareth College, but will have a positive impact in every community across the globe in which Nazareth graduates pursue their careers.
Atrium :: NAMED
A prominent architectural feature, the two-story, light-filled atrium welcomes students, faculty, and guests. It encompasses the main stairway and opens to the first- and second-floor lobby areas.
Colonnade South :: $1,000,000
A large, covered walkway featuring six arches leading visitors from the courtyard through the center's main entrance. The south entrance is a prominent architectural feature of the Integrated Center for Mathand Science.
South Courtyard :: RESERVED ($1,000,000)
The courtyard is where pathways from other areas of campus merge to create a prominent entrance to the Integrated Center for Math and Science, properly fusing the center with the rest of campus. The courtyard will incorporate symbolic artwork representative of math, biology, and chemistry.
Biological Sciences Wing :: RESERVED ($1,000,000)
Prominently located near the elevator and within the first-floor atrium, the biological sciences wing houses the ecology, cell biology, microbiology, general biology, non-major biology, and digital computer labs as well as various research labs. It also leads guests to the greenhouse and to several faculty offices.
Chemistry Wing :: RESERVED ($1,000,000)
Visible from the first-floor atrium as well as the second-floor collaborative center, the chemistry wing houses the organic, inorganic, and adanced chemistry labs as well as many of the instrumentation rooms and faculty offices.
North Courtyard :: $500,000
The North Courtyard lies at the juncture of the pathways to Elizabeth George Hall, the Golisano Academic Center and the north entrance of the Integrated Center for Math & Science. The courtyard overlooks the beautiful new greenhouse and features a sitting area surrounded by gardens.
Second-Floor Lobby :: NAMED
A bright, open entry to the second floor featuring a balcony overlook with views of the front entrance and courtyard. The second floor includes several offices, labs, tutoring centers, and the student collaborative center, which will bring much traffic to the floor and through the lobby.
Integrated Anatomy and Physiology Lab :: NAMED
At 1,200 square feet, the anatomy and physiology lab is the largest in the center and will allow students to explore on Nazareth's campus what they once had to travel to other area colleges to experience. The anatomy and physiology lab enables the hands-on experience necessary for preparing tomorrow's teachers and health care professionals. Biology, nursing, and physical therapy students will all use the anatomy and physiology lab to complete their program requirements.
Organic Chemistry Lab :: $450,000
Among the larger laboratories in the center, the organic chemistry lab will be used by biology and chemistry majors studying the relationship between structure and properties of organic compounds and reactions, mechanisms, and synthesis among them. The organic chemistry lab necessitates proper ventilation and specialized equipment.
Third Floor Lobby & Study Lounge :: RESERVED ($300,000)
The lobby and commons area will welcome a diverse mix of faculty, staff, and students entering the third floor from the elevator and stairway and traveling to the floor's many classrooms and interdisciplinary lab. The lobby and commons area boasts views of the center's roof gardens and will be an ideal space for quiet study or small group discussion.
Chromatography Room :: $250,000
The chromatography room will house sophisticated, expensive equipment, heavily used by chemistry students to separate mixtures and identify their various components.
Student Collaborative Center :: NAMED
The student collaborative center is the heart of the Integrated Center for Math and Sciences. Intended to make the center an important part of student life as well as academic life, the student collaborative center will be outfitted with flexible furnishings to accommodate diverse groups as well as lockers, a flat-screen television, couches, a microwave, refrigerator, and computers. The center will be the meeting site for science, math, and pre-med clubs and boasts a large, picturesque window that overlooks the main entrance.
General Biology Lab :: NAMED
A 900-square-foot space utilized by many students pursuing a career in health and human services (among them physical therapy and nursing students). The general biology lab is where Nazareth's study of human genetics will find its home.
Biochemistry/Cell Biology Lab :: NAMED
A 900-square-foot laboratory utilized primarily by upper-division biology and chemistry students to explore, at the molecular level, cell structure, cell function, and biological systems.
Integrated/Interdisciplinary Lab :: NAMED
This unique space is symbolic of the center's mission: collaboration. Here, joint projects between math, chemistry, biology, and health and human services students will occur. In this space, for example, nutrition students will work with the Center for Service-Learning to educate elementary-aged students about healthy food and beverage choices.
Microbiology Lab :: NAMED
Microbiology is a fundamental course for all nursing and biology students. This lab will play an important role in the preparation of Nazareth's health and human services students.
Physical Inorganic Chemistry Lab :: RESERVED ($150,000)
Also known as the inorganic chemistry laboratory or the physical chemistry laboratory, the advanced chemistry laboratory is specialized and dedicated to upper-division chemistry students. Selected topics and focused electives will be offered in this laboratory.
Large Chemistry Research Lab :: RESERVED ($150,000)
The research labs planned for the Integrated Center for Math & Science will fill a void for Nazareth and advance the College academically. The highly specialized 700-square foot lab will encourage camaraderie and provide a space for dedicated research. Here, faculty will work with all students as a research team to resemble the team-approach seen in industry and many graduate programs.
Non-Major Biology Lab :: NAMED
A 750 square-foot laboratory where students from disciplines such as nursing, physical therapy, and communication sciences and disorders, among others, will experiment and investigate.
Digital Computer Lab :: NAMED
Strategically located near the general biology, non-major biology, ecology, microbiology, and cell biology labs, the digital computer lab will serve many lab courses throughout the day including students from the health and human services disciplines.
Second Floor Lab Lecture Room :: NAMED
Used in conjunction with the laboratories, this lab lecture room will serve chemistry and biology students enrolled in inorganic and organic chemistry.
Third Floor Lab Lecture Room :: NAMED
Used in conjunction with the laboratories, this lab lecture room will serve biology, chemistry, physical therapy, and math students working in non-major physical science lab, the general physics lab, or the general chemistry lab.
Greenhouse :: NAMED
A key component of the center, the greenhouse will be home to three environments - one desert, one sub-tropical, and one temperate - controlled through a blend of varying temperature and humidity. The greenhouse will be used to grow plants for study and research, for community outreach, and for instructing teachers about how to use plants for education in the classrooms.
Ecology/Plant Lab :: NAMED
A 750-square foot laboratory where students will explore the interactions at various organizational levels between organisms and their environment.
Non-Major Chemistry Lab :: RESERVED ($150,000)
The physical science lab is the site where students from other disciplines will be exposed to the sciences. Students enrolled in nutrition, science of sound, and earth science among others will complete their work in this lab.
General Chemistry Lab :: NAMED
All biology, chemistry, math, and physical therapy students are required to take chemistry. This laboratory will serve them and help to prepare them for their careers in health and human services, education, or industry. The general chemistry laboratory will also be a site for interdisciplinary studies such as "Chemistry and Art."
General Physics Lab :: RESERVED ($100,000)
All biology, chemistry, math, and physical therapy students are required to take physics. This laboratory will serve them and help to prepare them for their careers in health and human services, education, or industry.
First Floor Student Lounge :: NAMED
Seminar/Conference Room :: NAMED
Adjacent to the main lobby, and featuring views of the colonnade walkway, the conference room will be both functional and inviting. As the only conference room in the center and one that is open to the entire campus, it is sure to be a busy space. It will facilitate collaboration among faculty, staff, and students and will also serve as an ideal space for luncheons and small gatherings.
Spectroscopy :: NAMED
The spectroscopy room will house very expensive equipment, which will serve the entire Center. Primarily biology and chemistry students — especially research students — will utilize this space and its equipment.
Digital Imaging :: NAMED
Here, use of high power microscopes allow students and faculty to study items on a very small scale.
Adjunct Faculty Office Suite :: $100,000
Featuring a conference room, several workstations, and casual seating, the adjunct faculty office suite is a space where lecturers can gather and work.
NMR Spectrometer Room :: $50,000
Heavily used by chemistry students involved in research, the NMR spectrometer room houses the College's most expensive equipment. Such equipment enables the identification of products after a chemical reaction and keeps Nazareth's program competitive with that of other area schools. The temperature and humidity of this room are carefully regulated.
Research Labs :: $50,000
The research labs planned for the Integrated Center for Math and Science will fill a void for Nazareth and advance the College academically. The highly specialized 210 square-foot labs will encourage camaraderie and provide a space for dedicated research. Here, students from any major across campus can become involved in any of Nazareth's many research projects.

Second Floor Large Group Study Room :: NAMED
A group study room in an area that is a hub of activity for student and faculty research, study, and interaction. Its glass-wall is adjacent to the Student Collaborative Center which is the heart of the Integrated Center for Math and Sciences, boasting collaborative space, meeting areas, and faculty offices.
Large Classroom (1 of 3) :: $50,000
A 1,050 square foot space where critical thinking will be taught and collaboration practiced. All classrooms are outfitted with SMART boards and multi-media projection and all are equipped with laptop hook-up.
Math Tutorial Center :: NAMED
Science Tutorial Center :: NAMED
Kitchenette :: $50,000
Located on the first floor nearby the atrium, elevator, conference room, and several offices, the kitchenette will provide a convenient staging area for conference room lunches or atrium receptions. It will also serve the staff and faculty on a daily basis.
Roof Garden (2 of 2) :: NAMED
Visible from the center's main entrance as well as from the classrooms and common areas on the third floor, the roof garden will enhance the interior and exterior of the Center and become another green initiative for the Nazareth campus.
Plant Growth Chamber :: NAMED
With access to the greenhouse and ecology and cell biology labs, the plant growth chamber will be an important resource for hands-on research, seed germination, and plant production.

One of two rooms on the center's second floor, which will facilitate small-group collaboration, research, and study.
Math Research Lab :: NAMED
The research labs planned for the Integrated Center for Math and Science will fill a void for Nazareth and advance the College academically. The math research lab features high-speed computing and provides a space for dedicated research.
General Classroom (3 of 3): NAMED
A space where critical thinking will be taught and collaboration practiced. All classrooms are outfitted with SMART boards and multi-media projection and all are equipped to laptop hook-up.
Cell Culture Lab (Genetics Research) :: RESERVED ($25,000)
The best way for biology students and faculty to learn how cells live and function is to study and experiment with cells that are actually living and functioning. A state of the art cell culture laboratory will enable Nazareth biologists to safely grow animal cells for research and teaching purposes. Moreover, using animal cell cultures for experiments will often supplant the need to use animals instead.
Tissue Culture Lab :: $25,000
The best way for biology students and faculty to learn how plant tissues live and function is to study and experiment with tissues that are actually living and functioning. A state of the art plant tissue culture laboratory will enable Nazareth biologists to safely grow experiment with plant tissue for research and teaching purposes.
Study Alcove (5) :: $25,000
The study alcoves provide convenient, quiet spaces for private or small-group study.
Faculty Office (19 of 28) :: $10,000
In a building intended not only for study, but collaboration, congregation, and socialization, the faculty offices will place biology, chemistry, and math instructors at the center of the activity, allowing them to play an even greater role in students' development.
