Annual Fund

Giving back is a Nazareth tradition. Tuition provides only 70% of the cost of educating each student at the College; some 92% of our undergraduate students receive some sort of financial support.

The Nazareth Fund turns individual gifts of all sizes into a collective pool of unrestricted support for the College’s highest priorities, including financial assistance, classroom and building enhancements, and a range of areas that directly impact students’ education. The Nazareth Fund helps make each of the following possible:

Access

About one-third of Nazareth undergraduates are the first in their families to attend college, and many of them enroll with help from scholarships supported by the Nazareth Fund. In 2009, Nazareth allocated nearly $19 million in institutional funds to scholarships.

Achievement

Stellar students depend on high faculty quality, modern facilities, a well-thought-out curriculum, a library filled with useful resources, and state-of-the-art technology throughout campus. All of these areas benefit from gifts to the Nazareth Fund.

Return on Investment

Some 84 percent of Nazareth’s 2006 undergraduates are employed or engaged in further study within a year of graduation. Many of them fill critical teaching jobs in the region’s schools and alleviate shortages in area health care. Some study abroad: According to The Chronicle of Higher Education, Nazareth is #4 in top producers of Fulbright Scholars among master’s institutions.

Synergism

A Nazareth Fund gift also makes a big difference off-campus. For example, foundations and corporations look at the strength of alumni support when making decisions about their gifts and grants to colleges like Nazareth. Bond rating agencies consider alumni participation when determining the interest rate Nazareth will pay when it borrows money. And the percentage of alumni who give to Nazareth is one measure of graduate satisfaction used by U.S. News and World Report in compiling its rankings each year.
